Geoffrey Gracia is a recent Rochester Institute of Technology graduate from San Luis Obispo County, California, who majored in New Media Interactive Development with a minor in Sustainable Product Development and was deeply involved in sustainability initiatives, including leadership roles in RIT’s Beekeeping Club, Engineers for a Sustainable World, the Student Government Sustainability Committee, and the Soil and Plants Club, as well as working on the university’s first Zero Waste Team. Inspired by his volunteer experiences during the 2023 Lahaina, Maui fires, Geoff will focus his service on helping plan and develop a Circular Economic Institute at MSU by designing programs, identifying funding opportunities, building state and national networks, and engaging Michigan communities and businesses to support circular economy practices. He looks forward to contributing to positive community collaboration while using the role to gain experience in environmental engineering, sustainable business management, and policy, and is excited for the opportunities that may follow his year of service, whether further education, continued AmeriCorps service, entrepreneurship, or his professional career.
