2021 Multimedia and Accessibility Positions

The MSU Center for Community and Economic Development is hiring Student Research Assistants for our Regional Economic Innovation (REI) Team. REI offers flexible hours, hands-on experience, and a welcoming work environment. Internships would start Summer 2021 and continue as far as desired through your MSU career.

Accessibility Intern

The CCED Accessibility intern is an opportunity for you to take your knowledge of ADA standards into practice. At the MSU CCED, it is our mission to disseminate research to our network and the public through various platforms including written reports, social media, video, and more. As an accessibility intern, you would be responsible for ensuring that REI and other CCED projects are accurately sharing information in an inclusive manner ensuring that our information is readily viewable and available to all. It is both the law and our mission to provide a proper experience while viewing CCED and REI materials, despite differing ability levels.

Desired Qualifications

  • Create accessible PDFs via Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Transcribe video via YouTube captioning
  • Robust knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and how it functions in an educational setting
  • Professional writing and editing skills
  • Awareness of Web Accessibility standards
  • Ability to both learn and teach further accessibility skills
  • Communicate effectively with contacts at MSU UARC
  • Work directly with communications and videography interns to disseminate information to CCED and REI networks

Communications & Graphic Design Intern

As a communications intern and graphic designer, you will be at the forefront of CCED's digital and print media. In keeping with REI, Domicology, CCED, and other projects' branding, you will be able to have creative freedoms on graphic creation being output on our Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and email network via Constant Contact. You will be able to create your own promotional and posting plans for events, relevant articles, and project updates. This internship allows creative freedom while also allowing for various opportunities to expand your portfolio.

Desired Qualifications

  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign for graphic creation
  • HTML and CSS knowledge
  • Social media management knowledge (Hootsuite)
  • Analyze the scope of REI and CCED to find relevant articles, blogs, etc.
  • Lead a group of graphic designers through MSU, CCED, REI, and other partners' branding standards
  • Knowledge of basic printing standards
  • Work directly with accessibility and videography interns to disseminate information to CCED and REI networks

Videography & Graphic Design Intern

Videography is a large part of how CCED and REI disseminate our research. As a videographer and graphic designer, you will prepare, conduct, shoot, and edit promotional and interview-style videos. You will be at the helm of our videography, creating custom animations, going on-site to REI and CCED-funded projects, and shooting b-roll in picturesque parts of Michigan.

Desired Qualifications

  • Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro for animation and editing
  • Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign for graphic creation
  • Write interview protocols
  • Create shot lists
  • Transcribe speech on YouTube captioning
  • Work directly with Accessibility and Communications interns to disseminate information to CCED and REI networks
