Broken Civic Trust: 2017
Several studies have been released in the past year regarding the dismal levels of trust among Michigan constituents in public officials. This distrust has been exacerbated by the 2016 presidential election and — more locally — by the Flint water crisis. As such, the 2017 edition of the Center for Community and Economic Development’s Contemporary Issues Institute was focused on Rebuilding Broken Civic Trust. Specifically, we looked at rebuilding trust in the Flint community.
